interactive projections

Often I feel that a person tends to take a look at another person
and instantly project onto them
who they think this person is
and what they want them to be.

So, thinking about this while I was given the opportunity to install a work in the space that a friends band was performing at I took six styrofoam heads and placed them around the space.  I stuck them on tree branches and clipped sharpies to the branches.

I wanted to see what people would project onto these blank forms.

I found it very interesting that many of the forms ended up procuring items that I had not supplied as options to be worked with.   Several of the mannequins acquired glow sticks, an item that was given out to the guests when entering.   And someone got ahold of some spray paint, which had an interesting eroding effect.  I find these facts very metaphorical.

will you let it destroy you or is it a thing of beauty.

Foggy Memory

What's left of my memory of a trip to the grand canyon in the sixth grade.

Have you read The Birthmark?

Can you find it?

left hands

Inspired by my grandfathers stories about growing up left handed in the 1930's I created this tribute his left hand using flex wax and casting multiple molds of my own left hand.
