Snake bowl #2

I really love the breaks in the glaze on this bowl. The green is so wonderfully slimy!

kick in the face bowl

These legs are so difficult to work with. This bowl is really just a way for me to practice working with small, thin, and all around delicate parts. I have been trying things with these horse legs for a while now but this is only the second success I have had (horse butt teapot being the first). However, I feel this piece marks a turning point! four sets of legs in this bowl and all of them are perfect.

bird of golden song

Practice makes perfect.

I can't help but note that this bird looks great on display with the 1800's Bavarian Tea set I got in Germany this summer.

Stacked teapot

Multiples is steady theme in my work. This ties in again to my feelings of being multiple things.

Double Horse Head teapot

check out such and such site ... They used my teapot!

Horse Butt teapot

Aside from enjoying the simple humor of working with this form, I was attracted to the difficulty of working with the thin legs of the horse. It was harder than I thought it would be and this was my third attempt that finally succeeded.

Another china paint practice piece. This one was done entirely free hand.

bird stack

I have been working a lot with bird forms. I have always had a fondness for birds since my last name is sparrow, recently however my interest peaked when i realized that my last name may not always be sparrow. being a woman it is generally excepted that I would take my husbands last name when the time comes. This thought was scary for me and lead me to produce and continue producing multiple pieces with bird forms.

bird with ruff

This work was created to test my skills with china painting and practice gaining a more steady hand. (i used stickers for the hearts... so it looks like i am better than i am...)

identity search animals

The animals with flowers for heads reflect the most negative ditzy feelings about myself.

I have started working with combining different parts of various barnyard animals. This search for identity relates to my own feelings of being more than just a girl or just a ceramics major. I have been feeling like I am not an identifiable creature. These feelings lead me to create the Identity Search series.
